This week, I understood the importance of the vision of work to be more effective and to do real group work. In addition, I have learned to do productive research. Indeed, in order to be able to communicate the most important information to my group, I had to sort through the information from the Internet to keep only the essentials.
We decided to divide our work once again, to be more efficient. Elisa worked on the design of the new guitar. Meanwhile, Rick was working on the technical part of the project, to make the electronics work the way we wanted. To reduce delays and increase opportunities.
For this sixth week, I decided to research the materials we could use to make our new guitar. To do this, I did various research on the materials used to make the first guitars, but also acoustic or electric guitars nowadays.
Last week the distance sensors were nice but not reliable. This week we where going back to the touchboards. It feels like a step backwards, this was necessary for us to move forwards.
It was sometimes a bit difficult for me to work together with Rick because he was having migraines. This is not something we or he could to anything about and I don’t blame him. The good part was that afterwards he worked harder and in the weekends on the project to fill in the gaps.
Our goal was to play 2 sounds together and have a faster response time. After talking to Kaj and doing research we found out the only way to do this is to have a program running on a computer. This way sounds can be mixed together and have a sound instantly when touching the touch board.
According to yoeri, Audrey's prototype was a step backwards. At least for his image. In our heads, we were just a lot further down the line. Sometimes you have to throw things away to know what you don't want. This helped us a lot.
This week I was sick. I had taken the responsibility to develop the technique with my CMD background. Only because I was ill and Audrey and Elisa only at school it was very difficult for them to continue to think along with me in the final product. This comes down to trusting me so that the week is not wasted. As soon as I was better I tried to catch up on the weekend. What is that weekend have made and discovered has been crucial to our project. It was very nice that Audrey kept the planning and the hotglue page up to date. It was the least fun task. However, she took this task very seriously and it was also very important for our team. You can see that she is doing a communication study.
In the beginning of the week Kaj came to school and we showed him what we had made with his code. He also understood that a next step with this technology was going to be very difficult. He muttered something with "Use a program like Garage Band". At first I didn't want to hear that because I didn't think it was appropriate to use a computer with an instrument. Still, I secretly started doing research in order to come to a better solution than we have now.
